One of several bilingual seminars on the holy dharma discourses of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was held over the long October 8-10 weekend at the Holy Vajrasana Temple and Retreat Center located between Sanger and Fresno, California. This retreat focused on the various aspects of tantric initiation and empowerments and understanding the differences between the two. This is the third such seminar that follows the “Seven Dharma” format for listening to the dharma established by His Holiness the Buddha and designed to accommodate both English and Chinese speakers. There were several bilingual students present, but also those who only understood either English and Chinese. One of the most critical features of these events is the Grand Debate that follows the pattern of those held by His Holiness in China. The presence of people from different cultures and experiences and their sharing of their experiences and questions about the dharma helps everyone gain insight and understanding of how the profound teachings can be applied to their daily lives and activities. A second bilingual seminar was held as part of the Labor Day Retreat in September featuring the three dharma discourses by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha released in January 2016 that explained the importance of practicing both cultivation and dharma and applying what we learn to our daily lives.
