Disciples came from Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, and all over California to listen to preliminary English translations of discourses given by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in 2008 on a trip to the East Coast; meditate; enjoy good vegetarian food and company; and help clean the temple.

Hundreds of pilgrims came to the temple to pay their respect to the Holy vajra Poles and receive their blessings. After chanting homage to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, the poles quaked.

Over the weekend Reba installed the offering shelves and finished the foundation of the altar. The oak paneling will go on later. The Buddha Hall is now complete enough to be used for the upcoming Fourth of July private retreat. The Buddhas will not be installed until later. Much of what had been stored in the Green Tara Chapel could now be moved to the Buddha hall.

Others came to work as the work retreat continued.

Over the past two weeks, students came from New Mexico and various parts of California to help build the main altar, complete various painting projects, and prepare temple for installation of new flooring. A photo of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III hangs next to the newly completed altar canopy.

Work proceeds on the Buddha Hall and the rest of the existing temple as students come to paint sew, and do whatever is needed. Next week Reba will start on the altar and the floor should go in after that.

This momma dove decided to raise her family on our spirit house. She does not move when we come to investigate. She is like a stone bird.

The red and gold paints transform the Buddha Halls. The door into the bathroom at the rear will be relocated to the outside wall when the new addition is added. The sewer lines and drainage pipes shown below have been set and the foundation footers are in place for the new bathroom addition. The three ancient Buddhas are still carefully wrapped in precious khartas, yellow satin, and protective bubble wrap as they wait to be installed here in the Buddha Hall. The painters came today to discuss how the gold leaf ceiling and mahogany colored beams will be painted. The walls in this part of the hall will be deep red while the adjoining smaller rooms will be a light gold.

The new addition that will contain the ADA bathrooms will go where the foundation is exposed. The old septic tank has been partially filled in and requires a county inspection tomorrow before the contractors can continue. Today they removed the brick planter and irrigation system next to the house. They also dug the footers for the Tibetan “Flaming Jewel” posts that will support the entry porch.
