Sonora Peachick Survey-2019

NEWS: new family of baby peachicks have just arrived (7-2-2019). Not so many peachicks this season, but it is always a joy to visit with the flora and fauna that share the home of Uma and Reba in Sonora. The four remaining chicks were busy being the delightful little bundles of fluff and feathers that they can be, but the males had mostly lost their tail feathers and were slinking around in disgrace like the one above heading for the fragrant blooming wild datura plant to hide. There was one proud fellow who stayed in his tree most of the morning and did not let me catch his flight to food and land who did still have a full tail, but even his season of strutting and display was over. If you look closely in the tree below you can see him.

The turkeys came briefly for breakfast, but the real center of attention was the copious fish tanks where various crops of guppies were evolving along with snails and other critters.
