This includes the “Xiaman Most Excellent Oceanic Mind Essence,” the “Most Excellent Enlightenment Emptiness Practice Oceanic Mind Essence,” the 128 Evil and Erroneous Views, and other practices relating to cultivation. We may take and correct our notes on this dharma and prepare questions for the discussion periods and to ask the BM, if we have the opportunity to do so.

The karmic conditions have not yet matured for the parts of the SAUMOL relating to dharma practice to be transmitted. It must also be noted that the translation we will be using has not been approved for release and most probably contains errors. Since this is a most holy and powerful dharma, it must be seen as a reference document to introduce the concepts and principles with the understanding that they may be subject to revision and correction. You are to share what you learn and your notes on these classes with NO ONE!!! You may however, use these concepts to deepen your own practice and cultivation.

HOMEWORK:

To prepare for this retreat you should read or reread the four Bulletins (#9, #11, #20, & #21) published by the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in 2009-2011 about the SAUMOL; the “128 Evil and Erroneous Views”; and other articles concerning aspects of the SAUMOL. You can find links to all of these under the Buddha-Dharma section on the SAUMOL at the Holy Vajrasana Temple’s website http://.holyvajrasana.org/buddha-dharma/supreme-and-unsurpassable-mahamudra-of-liberation.

You should also read and reread The Dharma of Cultivation Transmitted by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III (”What Is Cultivation?”) as this dharma takes that book farther and provides the means to actually practice cultivation at ab advanced level. Click http://holyvajrasana.org/buddha-dharma/what-is-cultivation.

What I will read to you at the retreat was published on the internet in 2010 as Announcement No. 14 by the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

If you want to take XFVU I-060 for credit you will need to let Zhaxi Zhuoma know so she can register you at the Xuanfa Five Vidya University (XFVU), listen to the three discourses at least twice, take notes, prepare questions for debate, and make arrangements for the debate after class on Thursday, November 15. You will also need to prepare a summary for each discourse that includes the essence and key principles contained in the discourse. These will be the key principles that you will apply to your cultivation and analyze in your journal. This aspect of the class and other requirements you can do online after the retreat and classes.  CLICK for more information on the methodology used in these classes and http://xfvu.org/ for more information on the Xuanfa Five Vidyas University.

Any students who understand Chinese should listen to the three discourses studied here about the SAUMOL at least two times before taking notes. Because it is so difficult for non-Chinese speakers to be able to hear these discourses, they have been given a dispensation so as to be able to start taking notes immediately. More times is definitely better.
