Shakyamuni Buddha at the Holy Miracles Temple, Pasadena, CA

After the completion of the Dipamkara Buddha Hall in the temple, the Holy Miracles Temple will provide the opportunity of lighting Lamps of Brightness to Beseech Good Fortune to all.

TheGreat Treatise on the Perfection of Wisdom says that “When Dipamkara Buddha was born, all that surrounded the Buddha was as bright as shining lamps. That was why the Buddha is called Dipamkara, or Light-Glowing Buddha.” The Dipamkara Buddha Hall is built on the holy hall whereby many Buddhas bestowed holy amrita from space. Once the construction is completed, the statue of Dipamkara Buddha will be respectfully seated in the hall. After consecration, the hall will formally become the Dipamkara Buddha Hall. Faithful Buddhists will have the opportunity to light lamps to present as offerings to and pay homage to Dipamkara Buddha in the hall, thereby generating boundless merit. Therefore, lighting lamps to beseech auspiciousness and good fortune before the ancient Dipamkara Buddha in this holy hall where holy amrita [holy nectar] was bestowed will be the most magnificent grand event among such activities in all temples and halls with lamp offerings in the entire world. Moreover, there will be a Great Holy Guru who is higher than Holy Gurus chanting sutras and performing mantras before Dipamkara Buddha to generated additional merit for those who light lamps. Every day, there will be Dharma masters reciting mantras, chanting sutras, and performing Dharmas in front of the lamps offered to Dipamkara Buddha to beseech good fortune for all those who light lamps, praying for their good health, career success, prosperity in business, increased good fortune and wisdom, and success in academic study as well as for prosperity of the country and the safety of its people. Such magnificence and blessing cannot be compared by lighting lamps in an ordinary temple or hall.

In response to the enthusiastic requests from faithful Buddhists of all walks of life, we now provide registration for lighting lamps online and at the temple. All are welcome to piously participate in lighting lamps to beseech good fortune.

After the corresponding receipt of meritorious donation is verified, all registration forms for lighting lamps will be presented to the Great Holy Guru to beseech good fortune and additional merit. If the form does not agree with the receipt, such registration form is not qualified to be presented.

The Holy Miracles Temple is not an ordinary temple and, rather, is a temple that carries out the true Dharma of Buddhism in an absolutely just and fair manner. To completely eliminate the possibility of selfish and faulty acts, the temple has neither an abbot nor a prior. Even the duty of receptionist is shared among monastics. Decisions are made collectively after conducting study and discussion.  Therefore, this temple is the only one in the world that is operated by a collective leadership.

This temple provides empowerment bestowed by holy gurus at three levels: Shangzun, Jiaozun, and Ruzun. They take turns to perform Dharmas at the temple to serve faithful Buddhists. Recently, the great Dharma of Uncovering Terma with Direct Validation was performed by a Great Mahasattva at the level of Yuzun at the temple. The Buddhist undertakings held at the temple are very magnificent and very rarely seen in the world, including the great Dharma of Holy Fire Offering, the Dharma of Uncovering Terma with Direct Validation performed by the Great Mahasattva Yuzun, and the Dharma of Taking Refuge performed for non-Buddhist practitioners and heavenly deities. Therefore, as of now, a true inner-tantric mandala is established only at this temple. The hall-blocking Vajra scepter used in establishing the mandala weighs 1,100 pounds and is still placed before the front entrance of the temple’s Grand Hall of Shakyamuni Buddha.

There are two options of lighting a lamp, individual (full year) and family (full year).

If you would like to light a lamp for ten years or lifetime, please contact the receptionist monastic at the Holy Miracles Temple.
