Continue Reading →Over the weekend Reba installed the offering shelves and finished the foundation of the altar. The oak paneling will go on later. The Buddha Hall is now complete enough to be used for the upcoming Fourth of July private retreat. The Buddhas will not be installed until later. Much of what had been stored in the Green Tara Chapel could now be moved to the Buddha hall.

Continue Reading →The three ancient Buddhas are still carefully wrapped in precious khartas, yellow satin, and protective bubble wrap as they wait to be installed here in the Buddha Hall. The painters came today to discuss how the gold leaf ceiling and mahogany colored beams will be painted. The walls in this part of the hall will be deep red while the adjoining smaller rooms will be a light gold.

The old septic tank has been partially filled in and requires a county inspection tomorrow before the contractors can continue. Today they removed the brick planter and irrigation system next to the house. They also dug the footers for the Tibetan “Flaming Jewel” posts that will support the entry porch. Continue Reading →The work continues. The Buddha Halls are basically done except for painting and installing the floor, although the new windows and front door still need to be added. They have been ordered and should be here in a couple of weeks. It was decided to replace the entire façade of the building with stucco to match the rest of the temple. The electrician has been busy bringing the existing wiring up to code and installing the changes for the temple. ...
