Prayer wheels contain the words of the Buddha: teachings of wisdom and compassion in the form of sacred mantras. While the Buddha’s discourses fill many volumes, they may also be condensed into syllables with deep symbolic meaning known as mantra. According to the Tibetan Masters, turning these wheels is equivalent to reciting these mantras and can convey the blessings of compassion and harmony, prevent natural disasters, and promote peace in the world. Since the prayer wheels at the Holy Vajrasana Temple and Retreat Center contain billions of mantras, they are very powerful. They can enable those who turn them and who contribute to them to receive many blessings and to spread these blessings throughout the universe.
The Holy Vajrasana Temple and Retreat Center will be blessed with two types of prayer wheels. There will be a very large Tibetan prayer wheel installed in its own pagoda. There will also be twenty-one smaller wheels at the temple located on the Walkway of Many Blessings leading to the Holy Vajra Pole Court that contain the Heart Mantra of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva. Individuals may purchase one or more of these prayer wheels and donate them to the temple and have a related plaque engraved with events and/or the names of whomever they wish to have so blessed.
