The fireplace is gone and the tile floor is being ground away. We had hoped to keep the old floor and just install the new flooring over the existing tiles, but that was not possible. It has been a messy process.
After the old sliding glass door and cat door were removed, openings were created for new French doors that will flank the altar.
The brick has been removed from the pillar in front so that this area can be enclosed for an entry hall. You can see the opening for the new French door in back.
First the carpenters enclosed what was left of the fireplace
Then they enclosed the area that will be behind the main altar.
